CQUniversity Rockhampton student Locky Carr once had dreams to become a chef. That was until the Diploma of Hospitality course gave him the confidence to realise he had the potential to make it on the international hospitality management scene.
After some words of encouragement from his CQUniversity hospitality teachers, Locky who has also completed a Certificate III in Hospitality has realised a new dream – to one day own his own restaurant franchise.
“I essentially want to run my own restaurant at some point in life. The Diploma will give me the management experience I need to do that,” Locky said.
“First, I’ll ideally start the restaurant in Rockhampton, then maybe in the big cities like Brisbane and maybe even one day go international!”
Locky credits the CQUniversity hospitality teachers as being integral to his success both in the classroom and in the kitchen.
“All the teachers have been absolutely amazing. It doesn’t matter who you are or how you learn, they are always there to help”.
Locky who has already gained employment in the hospitality industry strongly encourages those interested in the industry to study the Diploma of Hospitality with CQUniversity.
“Do it. You won’t regret it. The knowledge you gain [and] the people you get to work with. It’s all one big learning curve and a great experience.”
