The redevelopment of a historic secondary school will include education support facilities, giving families in Perth’s northern suburbs greater education options for their children.
Heritage buildings at Balcatta Senior High School, facing Poincaire Street, will be refurbished to accommodate the education support facilities – including life skills and therapy rooms – as well as a student services area, media classrooms and an upgraded library.
The $50 million redevelopment of Balcatta Senior High School will include a new administration block, performing arts centre, science and general classrooms, sports hall, change rooms, cafeteria, staff areas and design and technology workshops.
Architecture firm HASSELL has been appointed to design the redevelopment and construction will begin in 2019.
The school has more than 600 students from Years 7 to 12.
This is part of a $468.7 million investment to build and improve public school infrastructure across Western Australia, and help support jobs for Western Australians.
