A new nature playground at North Woodvale Primary School will help keep students active while developing their imagination and creativity skills.
The WA Government will contribute $25,000 to the development of the playground, which was announced as part of the WA Government’s Community Cabinet events in the Balcatta and Kingsley areas.
Research has shown nature playgrounds provide health benefits and assist with skill development such as creativity and improved cognitive function. A natural and challenging space can also help students recognise and assess risk in a safe setting, while building their confidence and resilience.
The nature playground will complement the school’s ‘play pod’ where students are encouraged to use their imagination to play and create things such as cubbies, homes and mines with pre-loved items.
