The Victorian Government is returning education and training to Glenormiston, delivering a key election commitment.
Victorian Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney visited the Glenormiston site to announce that South West TAFE will be the lead education and training provider for the consortium headed by Dean Montgomery.
South West TAFE will offer a Certificate III in Agriculture at Glenormiston in 2017 which will see dairy farmers in the southwest once again having access to the skilled local workforce they need.
South West TAFE will continue to work with their industry partners to support young people to remain within the region. WestVic Staffing solutions will be the host employer for the trainees.
In addition to the Cert III, South West TAFE and Racing Victoria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a plan to create equine related qualifications to meet industry needs.
South West TAFE, in partnership with Racing Victoria has the potential to position Glenormiston as the centre of excellence for equine training both domestically and internationally.
The MoU is a significant step to ensuring Victoria’s multimillion dollar racing industry has access to a highly skilled workforce.
