Bond University will calm the post-OP nerves of Year 12 graduates as it throws open its doors for the OP Release Event this Saturday (16 December 2017), coinciding with Queensland school-leavers receiving their all-important ranking.
The inaugural event invites university students of tomorrow to make the most of their OP score with one-on-one advice from expert staff to help explore their higher-education options, just minutes after receiving their results.
The university will open its phone lines from 9.00am on Saturday (16 December 2017) to answer immediate questions, with a range of experts onsite from 12.00pm to offer in-person guidance.
Bond University Director of International, Lisa Cowan, said the event would provide a platform for future students to discuss study options, meet with current students and finalise their 2018 enrolment.
“Bond University’s OP Release Event will help students better understand how to work with the score they have received, connecting them with experienced staff and academics who can steer them on the right path to achieving success,” she said.
“It will be a chance for those who missed out on the OP score they wanted to be guided through alternative pathways, including our broad range of undergraduate and university preparation programs as well as diplomas.
“The event is designed to help relieve those anxious feelings some young people face after receiving their OP score, by providing as much knowledge and information as possible on how they can make their result work to their advantage.”
Ms Cowan said the OP Release Event would be a family fun affair with food, giveaways and live music onsite until 4.00pm, with non-school leavers, including mature age and postgraduate students, also welcome to come along for advice and assistance.
“Receiving an OP score should be a celebration as it is the beginning of a new chapter in students’ lives, so Bond will be creating that atmosphere with a barbecue and live DJ,” she said.
“There will be plenty of fun with freebies and prize giveaways and visitors will even have the chance to win a $500 flight voucher from Student Flights.
“I look forward to welcoming the students of tomorrow to campus, as they start this exciting next chapter in their life.”
Miami State High School student, Finn Robinson, said he was excited to receive his OP score and to get to know the Bond University campus and academics.
“I’m excited to find out my OP score this weekend – I’m hoping to achieve around a 4 or 5,” he said.
“My nerves have definitely been calmed in the lead-up to the release of OP results as I have already been accepted to study International Relations at Bond, which has definitely given me peace of mind.
“I wish all of the current Year 12 students luck and I encourage them to use the amazing resources available through Bond. The University has definitely already helped me as I start my transition to higher education.”
In the week leading up to Christmas – from Monday, 18 December 2017, to Thursday, 21 December 2017 – Bond University’s Office of Future Students will be open from 7.00am to 7.00pm to assist in-person with questions regarding program options and opportunities.
The OP Release Event will be held at Bond University’s Office of Future Students, Building 6, University Drive, Robina from 12.00pm to 4.00pm this Saturday, 16 December 2017.
