Scitech’s popular early learning science festival, Toddlerfest, will be taking over the Science Centre from 16 February 2019 – 3 March 2019, to inspire scientists of the future through imaginative science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) play.
The bi-annual event offers an exciting and stimulating discovery destination for children aged 2 – 6 years and their families.
Ms Deb Hancock, Scitech Chief Executive Officer, said “Toddlerfest has become an event not to be missed for parents of young children. The event features specially designed early learning experiences which allow children to experience STEM through sensory play – which is an essential aspect of early childhood development. The Toddlerfest shows and activities encourage our future young scientists to investigate, discover and make sense of the world in an entertaining and educational environment.”
Captain Barnacles from ‘Octonauts’ will debut at Toddlerfest this season, roaming the oceans in search of adventure and fun in ‘The Octopod Rescue’.
‘Beyond Earth’ will take visitors on a journey through the solar system in the Scitech Planetarium – which is a breathtaking 10-minute show designed especially for children under four.
Scitech’s newly refreshed ‘Discoverland’ (thanks to LotteryWest) is an area that has been designed especially for children under seven to think, create and explore in. Build a wall in the Construction Zone, practice maths skills using rhymes in the Home Zone and check out Scitech’s brand-new Water Zone where tiny scientists can experiment with flow and currents.
The ‘Tinkering Space’ in Rio Tinto’s ‘Innovation Central’ allows visitors to decorate a mini surfboard and experiment with buoyancy.
Toddlerfest will also see representation from School Drug Education and Road Aware (SDERA) with ‘Izzy the Road Safety Lizard,’ and St John’s Ambulance with the ‘Zero, Zero, Zero Hero’ show weekdays in the Chevron Science Theatre.
