For the seventh consecutive year, the University of Melbourne has been named Australia’s number one university, according to the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2017.
The University of Melbourne is now placed 46 in the world, up three places since 2016.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Glyn Davis, said it was pleasing to see the University’s dedicated and talented academics, researchers, staff and students recognised.
“In a demanding global market, we appreciate very much this endorsement of Melbourne’s standing from academic peers,” he said.
The reputation rankings are based on the world’s largest invitation-only survey of academic opinion, featuring more than 10,000 respondents from almost 150 countries.
The result is a list of the top 100 most regarded universities judged by leading academics as being the best for research and teaching in their field.
