Students at William Ruthven Secondary College are a step closer to having the first-rate facilities they deserve thanks to the Victorian Government’s investment in local schools.
Victorian Minister for Education, James Merlino and Member for Preston, Robin Scott visited William Ruthven Secondary College in Reservoir where site preparation work for the $10 million school upgrade is now under way.
The upgrade will give staff and students access to first-rate facilities, including new Year 7-9 and Year 10-12 buildings, and administration facilities.
Kneeler Design Architects designed the school upgrade, with Accuraco Project Management now completing demolition works of old facilities.
The new buildings are expected to be ready in time for the 2018 school year.
There are 42 new schools across Victoria now in the construction pipeline – including 10 new schools that opened in 2017 – and more than 1,000 building projects under way after an unprecedented $1.8 billion Government investment.
The school was named in honour of World War I Victoria Cross recipient William Ruthven, whose strong commitment to community service and personal qualities are reflected in the school’s slogan, LEARN – Leadership Excellence Acceptance Respect Now.
